About the Transition

The SMIS data delivery and mapping system has passed its end-of-life. For users of GLR, eLVAS and other systems, your maps will not be part of this project. They will be replaced later via their own projects. The SMIS transition will only affect SMIS users.

When will I get access to LPE?

Check the Transition Schedule for the latest dates for your agency. You will be given access to LPE according to the schedule.

Our schedule has changed based on feedback on current functionality that has meant we are developing further capabilities within LPE to better meet user requirements, to ensure when you are transitioned to LPE, your business continuity is seamless.

We will keep you informed with updates on exact dates of your transition, so you have plenty of time to familiarise yourself with LPE before your SMIS account is suspended.

Why is SMIS being turned off?

SMIS is at the end of life and must be shut down early 2025.

All staff with SMIS access will be supported to transition to alternate applications, depending on the features and data you access.

Its main replacement, LPE may be familiar to many as it’s built using our standard web mapping tools in ArcGIS online.

Titles Queensland have separated from the Department of Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing and Regional and Rural Development and Title Searches and Survey Plans are now accessible direct from Titles Queensland through their applications.

I use SMIS to find property sales and land valuations data?

LPE will include the most recent property sale which includes the PropertyID, sale date and sale price. The owner name is not confirmed for inclusion in the final LPE.

You can get the owner name from the Title Search.

Where do I access Title Searches and Survey Plans?

Title Searches and Survey plans are not included in LPE. All SMIS users can apply for access to Titles Queensland. There are no fees or charges.

Why does LPE not include Title Searches and Survey Plans?

The audit requirements for connecting to Titles Queensland information was deemed too costly, given the information is already provided for free via their WebATS and eEnquiries.

While users will need to log into 2 applications, the new LPE has advanced functionality that will provide efficiencies elsewhere, for example: it’s quicker to query a property – only one click, you can also download the data.

I use SMIS to find property details, can I still get this from LPE?

LPE can provide property details in two clicks, search your property and click on the map.

LPE might look different, but it will give you the same data, except now with greater spatial capability. If you need the property owner name, your best option is to get access to WebATS and eEnquiries.

I use SMIS for Survey Searches and Historical Plan Searches. Will these be included in LPE?

There are 2 pieces of functionality that are currently being built:

The Historical Plans feature allows you to:

  • Convert an historical description (eg. Portion 308 in Parish/County) to the current lot on plan description/s and display the results on the Keymap.

  • Find current lot / plan descriptions from a superseded lot on plan description and display the results on the Keymap.

The Survey Search displays survey plan information (current, secondary and historical) linked to user selected parcel/s. It produces a report/s on the search conducted but copies of selected survey plans will not be included.

If your team use these features please contact the help desk to ensure you remain on SMIS until these are available.

What is the difference between LPE and Qld Globe/GeoResGlobe?

Theya re built on the same platform, but LPE has access to some restricted data (sales and valuations), and business specific queries and reports that provide a similar end result to SMIS.

Below is a comparison table of how to display data in each application, which may help with the decision to have LPE access.

What about GLR, eVLAS and LAMS that use “SMIS” maps?

SMIS doesn't provide the maps. For users of GLR, eLVAS and other systems, your maps will not be part of this project. They will be replaced at a later date via their own projects. The SMIS transition will only affect SMIS users.

I would like to incorporate SMIS data into my GIS, how can I do this?

If your team would like to access the LPE data as a webmap for use in ArcGIS Pro to speed up your business processes, you can request access ahead of schedule by contacting our help desk.

See ArcGIS PRO - add a webmap or web scene for more information.

How can I stay informed of SMIS changes and updates?

All SMIS users are automatically subscribed to our newsletter and will receive updates regularly.

Where can I get support from a real person?

Are there any user guides for LPE?

  • Access in-app help button by clicking on the i button.

  • Access expanded user guide.

What if I no longer need access to SMIS?

Please fill out our General service request online form and we can remove you from SMIS and the Subscribers list.
