The Draw tool allows you to draw simple graphics and text on the map. You can also use it to add line distance or polygon area to the map as text.

  • Select one of the draw tools that suits your needs.

Point

  • Select the Point option to show formatting options.

The 5 symbols highlighted have the option of:

  • Symbol size

  • Colour (Fill)

  • Transparency

  • Outline colour

  • Outline width

The remaining symbols are as displayed with the ability to resize.

Show location measurement

All Point options have the ability to turn on Show location measurement.

This allows you to view location measurements on the map.

  • Select the Degrees dropdown and click format type required.

Font formatting

Once selected there is an option to change the font colour and size.

  • Click in the font colour field to update the colour.

To change colour you can either:

1. Drag the slider (Do not click - ONLY DRAG)

Then click on desired colour using your mouse, or

2. Update the r,g,b fields, or

3. Update the hex field.

Handy Hints

Colour not changing - If you drag the slider and the colour isn’t changing, go to the bottom left corner of the box and use the crosshair to drag the Saturation Selector icon into the middle.

Undo Redo & Clear

  • Undo: Will undo the last placement

  • Redo: Will update the undos

  • Clear: Will clear ALL symbols

(Not just the symbol type you are working on)

 Note: All formatting options must be updated prior to placing the symbol on the map.

Line

 Line / Polyline / Freehand Polyline all have the same features.

  • Select the line style dropdown you require to display line options.

  • Select the transparency and width of the line.

Show length measurement

  • Turn off Show measurement length if you don’t want the measurement displayed on the map or turn on if required.

  • Select the dropdown next to Unit to select require measurement type.

  • Update the font colour and weight of the measurement to be displayed on the map.

Draw your line on the map - Press down to start and let go to finish your line.

Note: If you press CTRL, it will enable snapping.

Arrow

  • Select the Arrow option to show formatting options.

  • Once formatting options are made:

    • Click on the map to add an arrow, or press down to start and let go to finish.

    • Press CTRL to enable snapping.

Shape

  • ALL Shape options have the same formatting options.

  • Select one of the shape options.

  • Select formatting options required.

    • Predefined style, or

    • Shape colour and transparency, and

    • Outline colour and width.

Area and Perimeter measurements

  • Select Show area or Show perimeter measurements if required.

  • Update formatting options of Unit, Font colour and Font size.

Once all formatting options are made:

  • Click on the map to start drawing, click to continue and double-click to complete.

  • Press CTRL to enable snapping.

Note: Snapping doesn’t work for Freehand polygon.

Text

To insert text on your map:

  • Select the Text icon.

  • Type your text in the text field.

  • Update Font colour.

  • Update Font size.

Note: There is a preview above the text field.

To add text to your map

  • Hover over you map and click to add your text.

  • Press CTRL to enable snapping.
