Why is SMIS being turned off?
In 2021 a review of all spatial systems was conducted to ensure our Spatial systems continue to serve our business needs efficiently and effectively. The review found that there are significant risks with the current SMIS system that cannot be ignored or deferred without causing significant impact on the future of our ongoing service delivery.
Land Parcel Enquiry (LPE) has been developed to replace SMIS, with its features designed to be responsive to change (fit for purpose for user needs), easier to use and more cost effective to maintain. LPE will more readily support the addition of new capability requirements, with an in-built layering functionality great for those wanting to integrate views in the one interface.
All staff with SMIS access will need to transition to alternate applications, with several applications available depending on what features and data you are accessing. At this stage the transition off SMIS is planned for completion in December 2024. See the Transition Schedule for your agencies dates.
When will I get access to LPE?
You will be automatically granted access to LPE according to the schedule. Once you are granted access, if you don’t log in to LPE for 3 months your “portal” account will be suspended, so you will need to resubmit a request to get re-enabled.
The Transition Schedule indicates the date your agency will no longer have access to SMIS and all user accounts will be suspended.
I use SMIS to find Property Ownership, what can I do now?
LPE will include the most recent property sale which includes the owner name, PID, sale date and sale price.
Title Searches and Survey plans are not included in LPE. All government departments are eligible to apply for access to Titles Queensland information directly at any time. There are no fees or charges at all.
Request access to WebATS using ATSUserRegistrationWebPortal (DAF | DTIS | Resources | DESI | QRIC | RSHQ | RDMW)
Request access to eEnquiries application: email eSupport@titlesqld.com.au (all other agencies)
Why does LPE not include Title Searches and Survey Plans?
The audit requirements for connecting to Titles Queensland information products was deemed too costly, given the information is already provided for free via their WebATS and eEnquiries applications.
While this means users will need to log into 2 applications, the new LPE has advanced functionality that will provide efficiencies elsewhere, for example: you access the LPE configured webmap in ArcGIS Pro to speed up your business processes.
See ArcGIS PRO - add a webmap or web scene for more information. You can request early access ahead of schedule by contacting our help desk.
I use SMIS to find property details, can I still get this from LPE?
If you use SMIS to access this information, you will be transitioned to LPE where you will continue to access the same information to ensure a seamless transition of work.
LPE might look different to what you are used to, with new enhancements and upgrades offering a more user-friendly and efficient system, however, LPE will continue to provide everything you need, except now with greater spatial capability.
We are working to transition everyone across in stages, with a final transition goal of December 2024.
I use SMIS for Survey Searches and Historical Plan Searches. Will these be included in LPE?
There are 2 pieces of functionality that have not been built yet:
The Historical Plans feature allows you to:
Convert an historical description (eg. Portion 308 in Parish/County) to the current lot on plan description/s and display the results on the Keymap.
Find current lot / plan descriptions from a superseded lot on plan description and display the results on the Keymap.
The Survey Search displays survey plan information (current, secondary and historical) linked to user selected parcel/s. It produces a report/s on the search conducted but copies of selected survey plans will not be included.
If your team use these features please contact the help desk to ensure you remain on SMIS until these are available.
What is the difference between LPE and Qld Globe
/GeoResGlobe?
This simple answer is, LPE has access to some restricted data (sales and valuations), and business specific queries and reports that provide a similar end result to SMIS. See the query types below:
Below is a comparison table of how to display data in each application, which may help with the decision to have LPE access.

All these applications support adding your own data or live web services (eg. Government Land Register). Additional data can be added by clicking ADD button from the search result. (LPE searches the Spatial Portal).
What about systems that use SMIS data?
SMIS doesn't provide data. The data connections to LAMS and GLR etc. are a separate project with different timelines, and we are working with those stakeholders directly on creating the solution.
I would like to incorporate SMIS data into my GIS, how can I do this?
If your team would like to access the LPE data as a webmap in ArcGIS Pro to speed up your business processes, you can request early access ahead of schedule by contacting our help desk.
See ArcGIS PRO - add a webmap or web scene for more information.
How can I stay informed of SMIS changes and updates?
All SMIS users are automatically subscribed to our newsletter and will receive updates regularly.
Where will I be able to get support from?
On LPE click on the contact us button to email support@spatial-qld-support.atlassian.net
Fill out our online request form
Are there any user guides for LPE?
Access in-app help button by clicking on the i button.
Access expanded user guide.
What if I no longer need access to SMIS?
Please fill out our General service request online form and we can remove you from SMIS and the Subscribers list.
