404 Error
It’s a known issue that the links provided by QSpatial have trouble opening with Chrome at the moment. To resolve the issue copy and paste the download link directly into another browser (like Edge).
We are currently redeveloping QSpatial over the coming months and the issue should resolve.
If you still experience issues, we recommend clearing your browser cache or it may be caused by a file name issue. Instructions on how to clear your browser cache can be found here.
Missing file link in the email received
There are 4 datasets that can't be downloaded as whole-of-state because there are too many features:
Contours - 1 metre - Queensland - by area of interest
Watercourse lines - Queensland - by area of interest
Cadastral data - Queensland - by area of interest
Areas host to fisheries resources - version 5 – Queensland – by area of interest
These datasets need to be extracted, either using the polygon tool or selecting LGA/suburb. Contours need to be restricted to suburb or smaller. LGA areas are too large.
If the email states there are no features in the extract area, this means the data set does not have any data over that area. 1m contours does not cover the whole of state at this stage. It is mainly over populated areas.
Download data option is not available, only view metadata
There are two main reasons why a dataset is not available to download. The first is that the dataset is not available but you can view metadata. View the metadata to see who to contact or where to obtain the data. The second is that the record is part of a data series. To view the available data you just need to select the record and the list of datasets within that series will be displayed. You can download these individually.
How to set up direct download
There are now two methods of automating downloads to save you time. One uses the QSpatial interface, and the other requires Python scripting:
Log into the interface to save your favourite downloads (refer to the help https://qldspatial.information.qld.gov.au/catalogue/custom/help.page#2.6.5)
Apply for access to the Direct Download. You will need Python scripting skills and an account to be set up with our department.
Please email qsfgp@spatial-qld-support.atlassian.net supplying the following information:
The username/email you will use
Your preferred password
A brief description of your intended use – including what data you wish to download and how often.
Then a customer support officer will contact you with further details.
How to share search results
Once you are logged in you can share your datasets or search results using the subscription options available. Please refer to QSpatial help for more information.
Can I order customised data
We no longer offer customised data products of any type. For your custom data needs you will need to use the available data to construct the customised results yourself, or engage the services of a consultant. Please ensure that that you observe all licence restrictions of any data used. This information can be found under Data / Resource Constraints in the Metadata.
Access to the QSpatial metadata xml files using APIs
The below REST request will be able to get some details of all records including the ID that can be used in the URL to generate xml files.
What data projection (datum) is the data
The QSpatial default projection (coordinate reference system) is currently GDA94.
Where datasets identify “GDA2020” in the title, the default is GDA2020.
By using the “Add to my list” feature you can select a different projection suitable for your GIS.
The zipped file name is too long and won't open
The zipped file name in the QSpatial product email is too long and can't be opened. This may be caused by the full path length. Windows only allows a file path to be <260 characters. To fix this issue first locate the file and go to the parent or top level folder and then rename that folder to something short enough to reduce the character count to below 260.
