Cadastral data |
There are two datasets available for Cadastral data:
...
The Cadastral data weekly - whole of state Queensland option is a pre-packaged zip file . This zip file contains containing the whole of the state in ESRI file geodatabase format. No other format or further manipulation is available prior to download.
The Cadastral data - Queensland - By area of interest option lets you select areas using the extraction by area of interest method.
You cannot can't download this file as a whole of state, it is too large. You can extract the formats available in the extraction by area of interest method which are ESRI geodatabase, Mapinfo tab, ESRI shape and google kmz. Local Government Area or City Suburb are the most popular options for project work.
To download by area of interest:
Open the Queensland Spatial Catalogue (QSpatial). Select the large SEARCH button in the centre. All records are displayed.Type cadastral in the search term with GO beside it and then hit GO. The resultant search is then displayed. Select your record and complete the order. Remember to clear the filter after use
The available cadastral dataset options are displayed.
The dataset you require is Cadastral data Queensland by area of interest.
Find the dataset above and add Add it to your list by clicking the Add to List button.
...
Now select my Select My list in the black banner at the top it should be yellow with a 1 beside it. Click it.
...
In the left column you will have see Cadastral data Queensland by area of interest.
Click on the small box on the right of the data name to make it green. Now click
Click on the extract /download on the right of the dataset name. Select the choose Choose an area button and a yellow tab will come up headed LGA. Click I the down arrow on the right and you get a list of LGAs, select the one you want. If you want your area of data by City or Suburb select the City / Suburb and then select the area name from the drop down list. This is using the extraction by area of interest method.
Next select Select your output type, you have a choice of four file formats. Please note - downloading in *.TAB format can take up to an hour to be processed and delivered. In some instances it may be quick to download in *.SHP and manually convert this yourself. Another suggestion for downloading in *.TAB is to place your order after 4pm
Leave the select output projection as "as stored".
Enter your email address, click I accept terms and conditions, then click Extract/ download.

This can also be downloaded using the extraction by area of interest method as ESRI file geodatabase, Esri shape or Mapinfo TAB file format. The HELP in the black banner uses the extraction of an LGA dataset as an example have a read if you require more information.

Download file sizes |
There are limitations within the various software packages as to how big a file the package is able to open and display. The complexity of the geometry e.g. number of point or vertices within the file may not be obvious from the file size for a particular file type that you have ordered by download from the QSpatial service.
You will be notified of this limitation where you see the message "The following Datasets were not extracted because the feature count has exceeded the maximum feature count limit: ..."
If you find the file does not open in the relevant software, or you see the exceeded error message - reorder a smaller area of coverage and try to open the smaller file.

I haven't received an email with my download link? |
You may have entered an incorrect email address and the system was unable to deliver your order. Please ensure you check your email address before submitting.
The system will notify the QSpatial team of a fail delivery. We will endeavour to resend this on your behalf if we can determine your email address where there is a typo.
Automatically schedule data downloads
Organisations (government or private) are able to automatically schedule data downloads directly from QSpatial rather than using the QSpatial front end interactively. This enables the organisation to programmatically download data at a frequency required by them to meet their needs.
There are restrictions on who has access to this service and other conditions of use. To make enquiries about this functionality please use our online form.

1 metre contours common errors |
No features within the area of interest and were not exported
There are many areas where there are no 1 metre or 5 metre contours available. The email you receive will say "The following Datasets had no features within the area of interest and were not exported"
...
Feature count has exceeded the maximum feature count limit
This message following means you have tried to download too large an area. "The following Datasets were not extracted because the feature count has exceeded the maximum feature count limit"
Read the following.
When selecting 1 metre contours select a small area.
With regard to your data order placed with the QSpatial data delivery service yesterday our log shows that the order has failed because it exceeded the feature count, the dataset cannot be downloaded as a whole it is too large.. The following describes how to order smaller portions of the data using the extraction by area of interest method. The datasets for the 1 and 5 metre contours have many areas where the respective contours do not exist.
For the download of 1 and 5 metre contours the LGA area which is full of 1 metre contours will be to large. Try the locality / suburb option in the second tab.
...
If that fails because of exceeding the feature count you will have to use the third option and select using the custom shape from the map. Select an area over the properties you are interested in. Select a small area and gradually work up in coverage.
...
The solution is to select a smaller area.
The largest area that can be selected is by Local Government Area this should be ok for the 10 metre contours but this can fail if the LGA area has a large number of contours but usually will fail for the 1 and 5 metre contours. If when ordering by Local Government Area the order fails because it exceeded the feature count, order again using the next tab for City/ Suburb. If it still fails go to the third tab and use the custom shape selection but only select the area of interest which must be small. Follow instructions below.
You can extract the formats available in the extraction by area of interest method which are ESRI geodatabase, Mapinfo tab, and ESRI shape and google kmz.

The extraction by area of interest method does not work on datasets which are provided as data packages of content provided by the publisher which can only be downloaded as is. The alternate title name usually starts with DP and ends with .zip.
