Data Themes
Building upon the United Nations (UN) Global Fundamental Geospatial Data Themes, feature classes have been systematically organised into data themes based on shared characteristics and consistent spatial representations. This approach enhances the efficiency of data searching, maintenance, management, and supply.
Data is available in the following Topographic themes:
· Buildings and Settlements - Integral components of human geography and urban planning. They refer to the constructed infrastructure and human habitation in a geographical area.
· Elevation - Measures the vertical distances and the shape of the Earth and its features in relation to a reference surface (datum)
· Geographic Names – Identifies places and provides location identifiers for cultural and physical features of the natural world.
· Physical Infrastructure – Identifies public and some private infrastructure facilities including marine, recreation, education, health and medical as well as industrial and utility facilities.
· Transport Networks – Identifies the routes, infrastructure and zones of rail, air, and environmentally friendly transport options.
· Water – Relates to the extent and condition of water features including rivers, lakes, and marine.
