Go to https://www.planet.com/explorer/ and sign in. Or if you don’t have a Planet account send a request to have one set up for you.
On the left of the screen go to Daily Scenes and draw an AOI, inspect images coverage and the most cloud free
click on the
Add a second image(s) of another date to your order by clicking on the Order icon again.
Click on the ORDER SCENES at the bottom of the Daily scenes panel
Under DELIVERY OPTIONS choose the radio button Hosted analysis in Explorer
Under SELECT FOLDER choose a folder this data will go to, choose an existing folder or create a new one by just typing in a name in the Choose a folder dropdown box and click on the Create “….” and click the highlighted CONTINUE button at the bottom of the box.
Under ASSETS choose which type of asset you want but for hosted data you can ONLY choose Surface Reflectance - 4 band, and click CONTINUE at the bottom of the box to go to the
Under REVIEW you can see the total coverage. Under our current Planet contract download quota we can unlock less than the total area of Queensland, so UNLESS you’re certain the data needs to archived and permanently retained, please tick the Clip items to AOI to REDUCE the area you requested. But it can be used in emergency or short notice situations.
Click on the ORDER button at the bottom of the box to place your order
On the left of the screen go to View or download past orders
Unlike other order where you can download, choose GO TO FOLDER
which takes you to your hosted data
Or you have the option on the left of the screen you can also choose Access your hosted data for analysis
At the top level of the My hosted data on the right of the folder click on the chain option Enable streaming links. In the pop up window Enable the streaming links and the copy the WMTS link
and paste into ArcGIS Pro as a WMTS service via the Insert menu → Connections → Server → New WMTS Server without providing credentials:
