404 Error

It’s a known issue that the links provided by QSpatial have trouble opening with Chrome at the moment. To resolve the issue copy and paste the download link directly into another browser (like Edge).

To ensure optimal performance, we recommend regularly clearing your browser history and internet cache. Overloaded caches can slow down your system or prevent a website from loading the most recent information. If you're unsure of how to clear your cache, you can easily find instructions by searching for "Clearing the cache in [insert your web browser name]" on the internet.

Missing file link in the email received

There are 4 datasets that can't be downloaded as whole-of-state because there are too many features:

...

If the email states there are no features in the extract area, this means the data set does not have any data over that area. 1m contours does not cover the whole of state at this stage. It is mainly over populated areas.

Download data option is not available, only view metadata

There are two main reasons why a dataset is not available to download. The first is that the dataset is not available but you can view metadata. View the metadata to see who to contact or where to obtain the data. The second is that the record is part of a data series. To view the available data you just need to select the record and the list of datasets within that series will be displayed. You can download these individually.

How to set up direct download

There are now two methods of automating downloads to save you time.  One uses the QSpatial interface, and the other requires Python scripting:

  • Log into the interface to save your favourite downloads (refer to the help https://qldspatial.information.qld.gov.au/catalogue/custom/help.page#2.6.5)

  • Apply for access to the Direct Download. You will need Python scripting skills and an account to be set up with our department.

    • Please email qsfgp@spatial-qld-support.atlassian.net supplying the following information:

    • The username/email you will use

    • Your preferred password

    • A brief description of your intended use – including what data you wish to download and how often.

    • Then a customer support officer will contact you with further details.

Can I get historical cadastral data

We have all of the historical Cadastral DCDB data going back to 1997 for all the shires. But there are some gaps in the data. To order please supply the following data: Nominate the year, month, and format required, i.e. we usually have the following datasets:  ArcInfo, Arcview, MapInfo, QIF.

Note: There is work currently happening to make a temporal version of the DCDB data available as web services that would allow you to search for a lot plan that existed anytime between August 1997 and now. You would be able to get the geometry if the lot plan was found.  The drawback would be the subject lot plan may have several instances of its existence over time and not necessarily all in the same place as DCDB upgrades over the period of existence for that parcel may have moved it around a bit.  This is still being looked at.

Where can I find the unmapped watercourse data

The Unmapped Layer you see in the Qld Globe is for display purposes only and is made up by overlaying the watercourse and drainage features in the Water Identification Map (WIM) with the Watercourse Lines – Queensland dataset. Note: If you require all the watercourse lines for Queensland you need to download

...

By overlaying the WIM feature classes over the Watercourse Lines – Queensland feature class, you will see those features that do not overlap, equate to theUnmapped Watercourses displayed in the Globe. Those features in the Watercourse Identification Map represent only a small proportion of the watercourses in Queensland.

The zipped file name is too long and won't open

The zipped file name in the QSpatial product email is too long and can't be opened. This may be caused by the full path length. Windows only allows a file path to be <260 characters. To fix this issue first locate the file and go to the parent or top level folder and then rename that folder to something short enough to reduce the character count to below 260.
