AUXILLARY CONTOUR

 

Definition: – An additional contour used to aid relief interpretation over flatter or unique terrain,usually half the standard contour interval. The chosen values are of equal elevation above the Australian Height Datum.

 

Alternate Terms: Supplementary Contour

 

  • Capture as a 2D polyline along the feature

  • Capture at an elevation of 5 metres above the Australian Height Datum

  • Auto-generate from the Shuttle Radar Topographic Missing (SRTM) digital terrain model where a 5 metre contour that has been captured using higher accuracy source data does not exist

  • If a 5 metre contour captured using higher accuracy source data does exist, that data is to be incorporated into the feature class

 

 

INDEX BATHYMETRIC CONTOUR

 

Definition: Being every fifth Intermediate Bathymetric Contour - classified as Feature Type “Index Bathymetric Contour”. 

 

Alternate Terms:

 

 

  • Capture as a 3D polyline along the feature

  • Capture with a contour interval of 10 metre below the surface of the water

  • Every fifth Intermediate Bathymetric Contour captured is classified as Feature Type “Index Bathymetric Contour”

Definition: Being every fifth Intermediate Contour - classified as Feature Type “Index Contour” e.g., elevation values of 10m, 50m, 100m, 150m

  • Capture with a contour interval of 10 metre below the surrounding landform

  • Every fifth Intermediate Depression Contour captured is classified as Feature Type “Index Depression Contour”.

 

 

INTERMEDIATE BATHYMETRIC CONTOUR

 

Definition: An imaginary line joining points of equal depth below the Australian Height Datum, showing increasing depth at 10 metre intervals.

 

Alternate Terms: Basic Bathymetric Contour

 

 

  • Capture as a 3D polyline along the feature

  • Capture with a contour interval of 10 metre below the surface of the water

  • Auto-generate from an appropriate digital terrain model (if available) where the Bathymetric contours do not exist.

  • If a Bathymetric contours over the area do exist, that data is to be incorporated into the feature class.

  • Every fifth Intermediate Bathymetric Contour is classified as Feature Type “Index Bathymetric Contour”.

 

 

INTERMEDIATE CONTOUR

 

Definition: Representing an imaginary line on the ground joining points of equal elevation above the Australian Height Datum, showing increasing and decreasing elevation values at 10 metre intervals.

 

Alternate Terms: Basic Contour

 

 

  • Capture as a 3D polyline along the feature

  • Capture with a contour interval of 10 metre
