You can download the 1m contours from the Qld Spatial Catalogue but not as a single file. Due to the size of this dataset, you must select small areas only (eg locality or freehand over small areas). Instructions are here.

5m Contours

You can download 5m contours from the Qld Spatial Catalogue by region: Central, South and North Queensland datasets can be downloaded as a single Esri SHP file and will display at 1:25,000.

The complete file Contours - 5 metre - Queensland - by area of interest cannot be downloaded as a single file. You must extract data by local government area, city or suburb (locality) or freehand over small areas. Instructions are here.

10m Contours

The Contours - 10 metre interval - by area of interest dataset must be extracted by local government area, city or suburb (locality) or freehand over small areas. The whole dataset is too large. Instructions on how to clip zip and ship an extract are here.

To view 10m contours in the Qld Globe:

  • Click Layers (blue star)

  • Click Add layers (blue star)

  • Expand Elevation layer and check Contours

Via Web Services

You can access the contours via the new web services. The vector tile service is a tiles service for fast display performance where the map service contains all attribute information for the contours.

The contour services are a compilation of 10m Contours, generated from SRTM and LiDAR contours at 1m and 5m intervals. The LiDAR contours are across various project areas and are not state-wide.   Where there is no LiDAR coverage, only 10m Contours are available.

To optimise the performance of the data, the different intervals of contours are set to display only at specific zoom scales.

Displayed scales:

  • LiDAR 1m: 0 to 1:4,514

  • LiDAR 5m: 1:4,515 to 1:9,028

  • SRTM 10m: 1:9,028 to 1:288,895 (excluding areas of no LiDAR coverage).

These display scale were determined as a best fit to maintain the efficiency in all areas across Queensland. The contours can also be accessed via the new web services
