Over time, the existing raster basemaps have become increasing increasingly cumbersome to produce, in both human and technical resources, resulting in outdated spatial data being displayed. Moving basemap production to vector tile technology allows a far quicker and less involved method of production, allowing them to be updated more frequently. This shift mirrors industry trends and has improved printing capability.
